Question: I have a linear encoder that will not read in one area of its travel. What could be the problem?

Answer: It is a possibility the glass in that section is damaged. It could be a crack in the glass or chrome coating may be worn. Before we assume that the glass is damaged, the scale may just need to be cleaned or the readerhead may be out of alignment. Refer to your linear encoder's reference manual for alignment and cleaning instructions or call ANILAM tech support at 847.490.0351
